AZPX Heart Shaped Bowl Skate Jam – January 21, 2017

AZPX Skate Event:

This January is my 50th lap around the Skate Pump Track and some of the crew and I are headed to one of the gnarliest bowls in Arizona on January 21 to get my 50 grinds in: Tinnell Memorial Skatepark in Lake Havasu, Arizona. The park features an insane heart-shaped deep ass bowl designed by Lance Mountain/Colby Carter with Brian Pino executing some of the smoothest concrete in the state.

I think the deep is at least 11 or 12 deep. You can see the scale of the pics of McCabe in the deep end. My only skate-snob complaint is that the bowl does not have a classic waterfall to the deep end. Instead, it has a declining elevation to the deep. The massive side walls compensate for that and the carves are as wide as you can make them. The only prize in the skate jam is the fun you will have being challenged by this beast. The Jam will go down sometime Saturday afternoon, time TBA.

Several of us have rented a house for the weekend. There are good deals on accommodations. Some are heading up Friday the 19 and staying two days, I am going up on Saturday morning. If you are interested or want more info, hit me up: rob@azpx.com . If you have not been to this park it is well worth the scenic 3.5 hour drive up the Colorado River. In January Havasu’s temps are a mild 100-110 degrees in the shade which is pretty chill compared to the rest of the year when the place doesn’t get below 115 at night. All are welcome!
