AZPX16: Fat Gray Cat “Self-Titled” Digital Release and CD

One of Arizona’s hardest working punk bands has a new release available now on all streaming platforms. Fat Gray Cat – “Self-Titled”, is a collection of songs the band has been working on and performing live the last two years. “Self-Titled” was produced by Punk Pioneer Doug Clark. Clark, from The Brainz/Mighty Sphincter is one of the very early players in Phoenix’ burgeoning punk scene in the late 1970’s. Doug went to Cortez High, the same high school as Alice Cooper. This album was recorded at Mind’s Eye Digital Recording Studio in Glendale, AZ by legendary engineer Larry Elyea. “Self-Titled” has its roots in the early days of Arizona Punk Rock. The music is 100% Mike Watt approved. The press calls their sound Beautifully Fierce and may be akin to the atmosphere of The Talking Heads and The Damned as lead singer Michael Pistrui, along with Matt McNutt, Mickey 2x, Scot Leith and Sean O’Shea crafted the songs & and have played for 22 years in Arizona. Let’s not forget the endless skateboard and skate spot references as Pistrui grew up as a total skate rat.
