While trying to sort out AZPX Records digital streaming platform footprint, we were served with a Trademark Infringement Claim for using the name The Ditch Diggers in marketing our music. Even though we first published as The Ditch Diggers in 2015 for the High Rollers Compilation, it didn’t matter. Before we started using the name we did some research to make sure no one current was using it.
However, an outfit called The Ditchdiggers who were no longer active since the early ’00s had the hindsight to lawyer-up and trademark The Ditchdiggers and any variation of the name to market music. Pretty much a checkmate from the start. We reached out to the artists, explained our situation. They were totally cool about it as long as we stopped using the name. They even checked out AZPX, thought we were rad. We sent them some complimentary records and made some new friends.
Donnie and I wanted to still keep the ditch skating vibe and came up with Ditch Service, kind of like Pool Service where we do some clean-up and maintenance at the spot we are about to shred. Ditch Service is an ever-revolving studio project with many participants. Don has been working on some new way different sounding stuff we are going to release later this year.
To ‘celebrate’, we are offering all previous released Ditch Service tunes for free *mp3 download, including the first time ever Hohokam from High Rollers Compilation as a single. AZPX’s very first digital only release of Invasion of the Scooter Zombies featuring Brian Brannon on lead vocals and keyboard. Also, two tunes from the High Rollers Movie OST, Seven-Ply & Rip it Up. Available on most streaming platforms including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Prime Music, YouTube…..Enjoy!
