Fish and Destroy 03: Junior Achievement/Joe Cultice – The Jon Yousko Photo Archive

Jon Yousko, lead singer for Phoenix’s Junior Achievement/The Harvest is also a ripping skateboarder. Yousko has a treasure trove of images from early/mid 1980’s skateboarding in Arizona and is sharing them here exclusively at azpx.com with some rad stories to go with them.

The first shot is from a photo shoot we did for our Fade to Black LP with Joe Cultice under the old Mill Avenue Bridge in Tempe.  Joe was part of the early Phoenix punk scene and went on to be a highly-accomplished music photographer who now lives in NYC. Joe has worked with an incredible number of artists including Nine Inch Nails, Patti Smith, Gary Numan, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Garbage and Beck to name a few.

The other two photo’s are from the Mason Jar when we opened for GBH.  Although the “Jar” wasn’t a popular punk venue in the early years of the Arizona punk scene, it did become one of the most popular clubs in the growing underground Phoenix music scene.
