Fun Bobby & AZPX Records Present 20 Years of Smoky Mountain Skullbusters October 9

Twenty years ago the Smoky Mountain Skullbusters found their way out of the backwoods and onto the stages of Arizona venues. Leaving a trail of destruction, heartbreak and misery whenever they played, their music left audiences wondering what the hell just happened to them. Although AZPX Records never officially published Skullbuster releases (they always self-released their cd’s), the band and AZPX have always considered themselves one and the same family. SMSB have played and participated in many AZPX shows, skatepark openings and events over the years. When SMSB played right before JFA went on to jam their 25th Anniversary gig at Hollywood Alley, lead singer Brian Brannon pulled me aside and said “What the fuck dude, you hired bands better than us, how are we supposed to follow that?”

The Screamin YeeHaws from San Diego and AZPX Records recording artists Fat Gray Cat will be opening the night’s festivities. We plan on recording the show and possibly releasing it at a later date. Meanwhile, the band has given AZPX Records permission to make available their back catalog as digital downloads you can grab directly from the website.

To facilitate some down-time with friends and family, Smoky Mountain Skullbusters will be hosting a Family Outing at the Dirty Drummer in Phoenix on Friday, October 8 from 5pm-8pm. Come get some food, drink and laughs. Bring the kids! They might give them back.
