JFA – “Skate in the Shade”: Live at Yucca Tap Room 2014

The Danelle Plaza on the south-west corner of Mill and Southern in Tempe, is sacred ground to OG Arizona skateboarders. The strip mall is the location of the fabled Skate in the Shade Skatepark, a park that was never finished but hosted a bowl worth attracting some of the best skateboarders in the world at the time. Steve Shelton described it as one of the most challenging bowls he’s ridden.

The Yucca Tap Room’s close proximity to Skate in the Shade made the night of April 4, 2014 a special evening when JFA rolled through town to deliver an insane helping of SkateRock to the masses. The vibes of the guitar body shaped bowl and it’s four-finger thick coping were felt by all packed in the Yucca that evening.
