Steve “Ping!” Pingleton has created coffee table book, Arizona Desert Pipes & Beyond: Arizona Skateboarding Pioneers. A beautiful, hardbound 72+ page book chronicling Ping!’s Arizona skate adventures in the late 1970s – late 1980s. Not only is the quality of the book awesome, the photography and stories are equally as good.
A project Steve started around 2018, it took me inviting Ping! to showcase his photography at the up-coming “Dry Surf: Local Skateboarding History” Exhibit at the Tempe History Museum. Starting May 10 with an opening celebration starting at 5pm. The book will be available for purchase through the museum and Ping! will be in attendance to sign any copies. Also, the Dry Surf Exhibit will be showcasing Ping!’s beautiful photos in the community space as part of a rotating photo exhibit through the tenure of Dry Surf in January.
