Fish and Destroy 02: The High Roller Skateboard Park – The Jon Yousko Photo Archive

Jon Yousko, lead singer for Phoenix’s Junior Achievement/The Harvest is also a ripping skateboarder. Yousko has a treasure trove of images from early/mid 1980’s skateboarding in Arizona and is sharing them here exclusively at azpx.com with some rad stories to go with them.

Here’s a couple of old ones from High Roller.  Both shots are from the “medium” snake run which was one of the most skated runs at the park.  The second wall of this snake run was the perfect spot to take a trick that you just learned and I can still remember my first rock n’ roll on this wall.  Although it’s nowhere close to the mental layback air’s that you’d see Todd Joseph throw down on this wall, it was for sure one of my favorite places to take this trick once I learned it on an old wooden quarter pipe that was near my house in Paradise Valley.
