Professional skateboarder Trey Wood casually ollies a good 8 feet during the live skateboarding portion of the High Rollers Screening Event at Tempe History Museum.
Some stellar weather, hyped attendees and the hospitality of Tempe History Museum made a night to remember as we celebrated Arizona’s rich skateboarding history centered around a screening of High Rollers: The Golden Age of Arizona Skateboarding documentary.
With a pickup truck full of portable skateboarding obstacles courtesy of Skate After School, Rad Pinckard, Trey Wood, Sam Joseph, Mason Locker and Sam Underkolfer proceeded to set-up and re-set-up them up in different configurations. They then proceeded to rip the shit out of the museum plaza.
The movie started promptly at 6:30, the museum gallery filled up and spilled out into the main lobby. Everyone in attendance seemed to be having a great time. A discussion panel with the stars of the documentary (Steve Shelton, Don Ho, Joe Albilar, Hoss Rogers and Todd Joseph) and the crowd ensued with some good stories and laughter.
Fat Gray Cat then performed to round out the evening. They did a killer version of JFA’s classic ‘Beach Blanket Bongout‘ that got the crowd hyped. I can’t thank all involved in this special evening enough for going out of their way, committing their time and talents to make this a successful evening of skateboarding history!

End Note
This photo makes me so happy. These three knuckleheads have known each other since they were groms. Now all grown up into super-creatives totally killing it at life. It was so rad watching them do what they have always done all these years later except now at the pro-skater level. They didn’t stay for the screening, they went and street skated all night.
