The Brand – Chopper John’s July 20

The Brand out of Phoenix, Arizona has about 170 years of collective punk rock experience with their FB page states: Old school punks with nothing left to prove. Fronted by local punk icons Steve and Sarah Shelton, The Brand is the latest recording artists to grace themselves as part of the AZPX Records (Arizona’s 2nd Crappiest Record Label, Since 2002) family and we couldn’t be more stoked!

The lineup is: Sarah Shelton – vocals | Steve Shelton (Glass Heroes) – guitar | Chuck Holder (Grant & The Geezers and Hellfire) – guitar | Danny Bravo (the Dark Hearts) – bass | Dennis Walsh (The Crowd)-drums —-holy shit what a killer line-up! Talk about punk rock history!

The Brand performs Friday, July 20 at Chopper John’s supported by Puppy and the Handjobs and The Plainfield Butchers. NO COVER, music starts at 9pm. Hope to see you there.

I’m gonna go ahead and say it, Steve Shelton is the Number 1 skateboarder all-time out of AZ. Period. Yes, there are tons of Arizona legends but goddamit, Shelton was there from the beginning and the photos prove it. Every photo I have seen of Steve has been pretty much epic. Not just what he is doing on ancient skateboards, but the whole look and vibe of the photo is undeniably Shelton, from the background, Steve’s gear and clothes are all ABOVE THE LEVEL on skateboarding gnarliness. Yeah, looking at photos then you figure just ‘Gnar’ but the thing is, Steve Shelton knew the angle of the camera better than the photographer. His photos are not just a split second of chaos, but the whole composition was fully planned with Shelton knowing exactly what he was looking for. Way ahead of his time. The dude made the cover of Thrasher Magazine in 1983!

Shelton has a deep history with AZPX. We put out his Signature Model a few years ago with the longest wheelbase ever for AZPX” 16″. He also graces the cover of AZPX Records Compilation ‘High Rollers’
